Had a close call with a band saw blade last Tuesday

I was breaking down a side of beef at the shop, and the blade on my band saw just snapped mid-cut. It was loud and sent the piece flying. I shut everything off right away, checked the area, and found the blade had a tiny crack I missed during my morning check. I swapped it out with a new one, but it cost me about 20 minutes and a bit of product. Has anyone else had a blade fail like that, and what's your routine to check for wear?

Was it really that big a deal though?

Glad you're okay, that's the main thing. I once missed a hairline crack and ended up with a blade that sounded like a dying robot (which, looking back, was probably a sign). My routine got a lot more thorough after that, checking for any little nicks or weird spots in the light.
