Question about using a 1/4 inch spacer block for consistent drawer gaps

I was fighting with a set of inset drawers for a client in Boise until I cut a small block to use as a physical guide while installing the slides. It saved me at least an hour of fiddling and gave me perfect reveals every time. Does anyone have a different method they like for this?

That block trick is a lifesaver for sure. But calling it a "spacer" is a bit off. A spacer goes between the parts. What you made is a gauge, you hold it in the gap. Small difference but it matters for how you use it. I keep a few different thicknesses of these gauge blocks in my apron now. Makes the whole job way less stressful.

Ever think about marking your drill bit with tape for the screw depth? It keeps you from driving the slide screws in too far and throwing off your gap. That plus a gauge block covers both sides of the problem.
