Rant: A client in Boise told me they'd rather have a solid plywood box than a fancy cabinet that falls apart in a year.

It made me stop and remember that a clean glue joint and a square carcass are what people really pay for, not just the finish or the hardware. What's the most basic skill you think gets overlooked now?

Exactly! I learned the hard way that measuring twice and cutting once is the real foundation. It sounds simple, but rushing that step ruins everything that comes after. Getting that right solves so many problems before they even start.
