That time I realized everyone buys the wrong kind of sandpaper for face frames
I was helping a buddy finish some oak cabinets last month and he had 80 grit on his orbital sander, which is way too aggressive for a prefinished face frame. You gotta stick with 120 to 150 grit or you'll chew through the veneer before you even start.

Stick an 80 grit on a prefinished face frame and you might as well just hand your buddy a belt sander and tell him to go nuts. That's not sanding, that's industrial demolition on a delicate piece of wood. Hope he wasn't planning on keeping that veneer, because it's probably dust in his shop vac now. Next time tell him to save the rough stuff for stripping paint off a fence and grab some 150.

Didn't I read somewhere that 80 grit is basically just for removing old glue or leveling really rough stuff?
