Vent: I think pre-finished plywood is way overhyped
I've been building cabinets for 15 years now and I keep seeing everyone push pre-finished plywood as the better option. But I switched back to raw birch about 6 months ago after a job for a client in Austin. That pre-finished stuff delaminated on the edges where I cut it, and I had to spend an extra 3 hours sanding and filling gaps. Has anyone else run into this or is it just me?

Tile edge blowout on prefinished sheets? Yeah, that's a rite of passage I didn't sign up for either. Guess my sanding arm got a better workout than the cabinets did.

@kai463 man, I feel you on that one. Prefinished stuff is supposed to save us time, but when the edge chips out it's like, well now I'm sanding twice as long to blend it in. Had a whole kitchen run where my jigsaw blade was dull and the cuts looked like a beaver got at em. Spent the next day with 80 grit just making peace with the mistakes.
