I finally figured out why my RG6 crimps kept failing
After 5 years of doing this, I realized I was stripping too much jacket off before crimping. A guy I worked with in Denver last week showed me his method - leave about 1/4 inch of jacket on the connector and it holds way tighter. Has anyone else had that lightbulb moment on something so basic?

That "lightbulb moment" you describe reminds me of something I've noticed after years of fixing things around the house. So many problems come down to getting the small details wrong at the start. It's like when I used to over-tighten screws and strip them out. You'd think more is better, but it's actually the opposite. Once you learn the right amount, everything else falls into place. Your friend showing you that quarter inch trick is exactly the kind of thing that should be in the manual but never is.

Wait, hold up @johnb95. You were stripping out screws before you learned the quarter inch trick? lol I thought everyone just figured that out after the first time they ruined a cheap screwdriver. That must have been a rough few years of fixing stuff.
