Serious question: is it worth paying $250 for a Klein tools crimper or is the $40 Amazon one good enough?
I dropped $250 on a Klein crimper last year for the coax work I do around here in Phoenix. Thing feels solid, no complaints. But my buddy uses a cheap one he got online for $40 and says his connections pass signal just fine. I'm wondering if I wasted my money or if the Klein will actually hold up longer. Anyone have a cheap crimper fail on them after a few months?

Bought a $40 one two years ago from Amazon. Crimped maybe 50 connections before the die slipped and crushed a connector bad. Swapped to a Klein after that. Yeah it's pricey but the feel is way more precise.

Man, I don't know @juliagonzalez, I've had a cheap crimper from Harbor Freight for like four years now and it's still going. I've probably done a couple hundred connections with it and never had a die slip. Maybe you just got a dud? Or maybe it got dropped at some point and knocked something out of alignment. I get that a Klein feels nicer in the hand but I'm not sure it's worth the extra hundred bucks for most people. Take it with a grain of salt, but I'd try another cheap one before dropping that kind of cash.
