Update: Got a request to do a half-job on a lens repair for a sale

A dude brought in a zoom lens with loose elements. He wanted me to tighten it just enough to feel okay for a buyer, not fix it right. One side says take the cash and do the simple job he asked for. The other side says that's helping him rip someone off. What would you do here? I'm torn on where our responsibility ends.

Helping him rip someone off is where I'd draw the line.

Seen that backfire before where the helper gets in just as much trouble. Not worth getting dragged down with them.

Saw a guy at the coffee shop yesterday bragging about a fake return scam. @black.claire is right, people overlook shady stuff way too often for a quick buck.

Yeah that coffee shop bragging is wild. People forget that quick buck stuff always catches up later.
