That junkyard alternator from a 2003 Taurus actually fit my Civic
My alternator seized up on a Sunday with no parts stores open, so I grabbed a 130-amp one from a junkyard Taurus for $25. I had to swap the pulley and fabricate a bracket out of some angle iron, but it's been running strong for 4 months now. Anyone else try cross-brand swaps like this for a quick fix?

Huh, that's pretty clever. Did you have to mess with the wiring at all or was it just a straight plug and play after the bracket swap? I'm curious if the voltage regulator on the Taurus unit matches up okay with the Civic's computer.

Had to swap two pins in the connector, but the regulator never gave me any trouble.
