I took a formal class versus just watching free videos to learn coding

The free videos were okay, but the structured class in Denver with weekly assignments forced me to actually build things. Has anyone else found that paying for a course made a bigger difference than self-study?

Yeah, the money part is a real motivator. I dropped cash on a photography workshop once and actually showed up for the 6 AM shoot because I felt guilty wasting it. With free stuff, it's too easy to just close the tab when it gets hard. What was the hardest assignment you had to push through in that Denver class?
