Thinking about leaving my accounting job for a trade skill after 12 years
I have been a CPA in Chicago for over a decade and the desk work is wearing me down. Last month I walked past a welding shop near my apartment and watched a guy fix a gate in about 20 minutes. I started looking into local community college programs and found a 6 month evening course in plumbing for $3,200. Has anyone here made a jump from a white collar job into something like electrical or plumbing work and felt it was worth the pay cut at first?

Did you check the job placement rate for that plumbing course? I read most trades are hurting for workers bad.

Job markets are fine and those placement rates are usually inflated anyway.
