Hit 200k in my 03 Corolla this morning on the way to work
I was just driving my usual route to the clinic on Route 9 and glanced down and there it was, 200,000 miles exactly. Bought this car three years ago for $1,800 from a guy on Craigslist outside of Portland. It had 176k then and the AC blew warm but the engine sounded solid. It still runs fine even with the sticky thermostat and a cracked taillight I keep meaning to fix. Has anyone else had a cheap car just keep going way past what you expected?

Did you ever figure out that sticky thermostat or just let it ride?

Man you let it ride? That is wild to me. I had a sticky thermostat in my old truck once and it drove me absolutely crazy. Could not stand the thought of the engine running hotter than it should, especially on a long trip. I tore the whole dash apart three times before I finally found a bad ground wire causing the issue. Ended up being a ten cent fix after hours of my time, but at least I knew it was right. Your mileage may vary but I would have been checking that thing every single day until it was fixed.
