Rant: I thought those new flexible rods were just a gimmick until a job in Charleston.
Had a tight offset flue that my old rigid rods just couldn't handle, so I borrowed a set. They navigated the bends perfectly and saved me an hour. Anyone else have a tool they were wrong about?

I mean, I've definitely been that guy calling new stuff a gimmick. Then you're suddenly the one eating crow when the weird new tool saves your whole job. Guess we're all just stubborn until we're proved wrong.

Wait, a 1920s Philly rowhouse? Those walls are never straight, that laser level must have felt like magic.

My buddy Dave swore up and down that laser level was just for show. He was fitting cabinets in a 1920s Philly rowhouse with walls that were anything but straight. He finally caved and tried one, and it cut his layout time in half. He had that same look patel.leo is talking about, pure stubbornness melting away. Sometimes the new way is just better, even when it feels like giving in.
