Am I the only one who finds peace in volunteering for local tree planting?

Spending my free time adding more trees to the park has seriously helped my stress levels and feels like a real step for the environment.

Man... I totally get that. I tried to grow a basil plant on my windowsill and it was dead in a week, but for some reason, putting actual trees in the actual ground feels completely different. It's like the stress just goes into the hole with the roots. Plus you get to see the results years later, which is pretty wild. My own track record is terrible, so I'm honestly doing the world a favor by sticking to the guided volunteer stuff where someone tells me what to do. It's the one chore that doesn't feel like a chore at all.

Always wake up sore the next day, honestly.

Planting those oak saplings on Saturday left me aching for days. @miller.elliot is spot on about guided volunteer work not feeling like a chore. Even with the sore muscles, seeing the trees take root is amazing. I used to hate any physical work, but now I look forward to these weekends. The pain means you did something real, and that's a good kind of tired.
