The feedback that made me ditch my electric leaf blower for a rake
A neighbor told me my gas blower was ruining their garden soil and I switched to a rake for my quarter-acre yard in Portland, has anyone else got pushback on their lawn tools?

Rakes actually do a better job in my experience. That blower just pushed the leaves around and left a thin dust layer on everything. With a rake you get the whole pile in one go, no gas smell, and you can actually hear yourself think while you work. I switched two years ago and my soil isn't getting compacted from the wind blast anymore. Plus you burn more calories, which is a bonus if you're trying to stay active.

Is the soil compaction from a leaf blower really something you lose sleep over?
