I used to just wing it on job bids until I lost $800 on one house

Back in June I bid a kitchen remodel by gut feel and ended up $800 under on materials alone because I didn't account for the subfloor rot. Now I walk every inch with a moisture meter and a tape measure before I write a number - has anyone else had a bid blow up on them from skipping the details?

Did you check the subfloor before you gave the number?

Seems like everyone skips the boring but important stuff and then wonders why things don't add up later. It's just how we do things now, isn't it?
