Rant: The Python course at my local library in Springfield was way too fast
I went to the free 'Intro to Python' workshop at the Springfield Public Library last Thursday, and they tried to cover variables, loops, and functions all in 90 minutes. The teacher just rushed through slides and didn't leave time for anyone to actually write code. I've been trying to learn on my own for a few weeks, and that pace would have lost me completely if I was a real beginner. Has anyone found a better in-person class that actually lets you practice?

Wasn't that just a quick taste to see if you liked it?

Exactly, paulk42, it's just a quick taste. I've totally done that with a friend's drink before, just a tiny sip to check it out. Then you either commit or you know to steer clear.

So you're telling me you've never taken a "test sip" that accidentally turned into half the drink? I call that the friend tax, and it's how I discovered I hate coconut rum. My buddy still brings it up every time we get drinks, like I committed a crime instead of just saving him from a bad purchase.
