Read a study that said 40% of data loss is from hardware failure, not viruses.

Found it in a trade journal at the dentist's office. Makes me push backups way harder now, anyone else see that stat?

Hardware failure is such a silent killer. Did the study break down what kind of hardware? Like old drives versus new SSDs?

Wait, they were reading a trade journal at the dentist? That's the real shocker here. Who can focus on storage stats with that drill noise? But yeah, hardware just gives up the ghost out of nowhere. Makes a solid case for that 3-2-1 backup rule for sure.
