Rant: Finally hit 60fps stable on a 5 year old card and it felt insane
So I've been running this GTX 1060 forever right? Figured I was stuck with 30fps on newish games no question. But last night I tweaked everything in AC Shadows for like an hour, dropped shadows to medium, turned off some ray tracing garbage, and boom. 60fps solid for the first time in years on a AAA title. It's not even a high end card lmao but man hitting that number just felt like I beat the system. My buddy on his PS5 keeps telling me to just upgrade but I told him this feels more rewarding. Anyone else get weirdly proud of squeezing performance out of old hardware instead of just buying new stuff?

The thing nobody talks about is how tweaking a game like that actually teaches you way more about how graphics work than just dropping $500 on a new card. I did the same thing with my old RX 580 on Cyberpunk (you know, the game that made people's 2080s cry) and now I actually understand what things like ambient occlusion and draw distance do to performance instead of just trusting "ultra settings." Meanwhile your buddy on PS5 is just clicking "optimize" and not learning a damn thing about what makes shadows eat frames or why volumetric fog is the devil. Be proud of that hour you spent in the menus, seriously.

You must have saved some good frames turning off that fog in Cyberpunk cause that stuff eats VRAM alive, did you notice any stuttering after your tweaks?
