Unpopular opinion: the $400 I spent on a freelance PR course was the best money I ever set on fire
Signed up for a 6 week media training course run by a former reporter in Chicago for $400. First 3 weeks felt like a total scam, just worksheets and mock interviews. Then I rewrote one pitch for a tiny client using the "one sentence hook" template from week 4 and landed a 10 minute segment on a local morning show. Anyone else take a paid course that felt useless until the one tactic that actually clicked?
My sister talked me into a $300 LinkedIn ghostwriting course two years ago and I told her we both just lit money on fire. The first month was all "find your voice" exercises and I was doing them at 11pm feeling like a clown. Then week five had this one tip about opening posts with a number and the three clients I landed off that alone covered the cost four times over. Still think 90% of paid courses are junk but 10% can hit. Annoying when the annoying people turn out right.
