My old instructor in Tampa said to never use a razor on dry hair... I tried it on a client's cowlick last week and it was perfect.

What kind of razor did you use, a shaper or a straight razor? I was always taught the same rule, but maybe the blade type makes a difference.

My old barber in Chicago swore by a single blade safety razor for that first pass. He said it lifts the hair without the tugging you get from multi blade cartridges. That technique made all the difference for me.
