Overheard a client say her new color made her feel like a different person

She was in my chair for a root touch-up and mentioned how the last stylist just slapped on a box dye. It made me realize our job is way more than just applying color, it's about listening to what a client actually wants. Anyone else have a moment that reminded you why you got into this?

Had a client come in with hair so damaged from box dye it felt like straw. She just wanted to hide her roots but was scared to touch it. Spent the first half of the appointment just talking about a gentle plan, not just the color. When we finished, she cried because her hair finally felt healthy again. That's the stuff they don't teach you in school.
