Switched from a cheap box dye to a salon color for one client and the difference was night and day.

I used a $6 drugstore kit on my sister's roots last month and she ended up with orange streaks, then I did the same process with Redken at the shop on a different client and it came out perfect - has anyone else had a disaster switching between professional and drugstore color?

Think technique matters more than the product brand honestly.

The local barber shop I go to uses drugstore clippers and basic shears but his cuts are ALWAYS better than the fancy salons downtown. I watched him spend YEARS perfecting his fade technique before he even thought about buying nicer tools. Brand loyalty is just marketing hype when you really break it down. A skilled person can make a $20 straightener work ten times better than a rookie with a $400 one. People chase the tools but forget the HOURS of practice that actually make the difference. Technique IS the whole game, plain and simple.
