Went to a salon in Tulsa and the owner was using expired developer

I popped into this little shop called Curl & Dye near downtown last Saturday to see what they were using. The owner had a bottle of 20 volume that expired in 2022 sitting right on her station lol. She said it still worked fine but I noped out of there real quick. Has anyone else caught a salon using old product that seemed shady?

That 20 volume from 2022 is way too old. I used to do hair on the side and developer breaks down over time, especially if it gets hot or cold. The peroxide separates and then it stops lifting color evenly. You could end up with patchy hair or damage if they use that on you. I would have walked out too honestly. Some salon owners just get cheap and think nobody will notice.
