That flat tire 10 miles into my first brick workout almost broke me
I was already gassed from the bike leg and a piece of glass shredded my rear tube right near the highway onramp. Had to walk the bike two miles home in clipless cleats and then still try to run after fixing it. Has anyone else had a single gear failure completely derail their training week?

... and that reminds me of my buddy Dave, who had his rear derailleur completely snap off on a climb about 8 miles into a 60 mile ride. He had to run his bike back down the hill to the start, cleats clicking the whole way, and then spent the next three hours trying to find a shop that had a spare in stock on a Sunday. His whole training block fell apart because he kept trying to fix the timing on his own and ended up messing up the indexing worse. By the time he got it sorted, he'd lost a week of base miles and his confidence was shot for the next big group ride. It's wild how one little piece of metal can just wreck everything you had planned.

Oh man @oliverbailey, I feel this so hard. Last summer I had a pedal literally snap in half on a brand new pair of shoes about 10 miles from home on a Saturday morning. Had to do this ridiculous one-legged shuffle back to the car, looked like a total idiot. Took me almost two weeks to find a replacement pedal that matched because apparently they changed the thread pattern from one model year to the next (ugh).
