Changed my mind about buying cheap tools after a bad experience with a shovel
I had to pick between a $25 shovel from the hardware store and an $80 one from a specialty brand. I went with the cheap one because I figured a shovel is just a shovel, right? Wrong. Three weeks into digging up some old roots in my yard, the handle snapped clean in half on a cold morning. The cheap metal blade also started bending after just two uses. I finally broke down and bought the expensive one last Saturday. The difference in weight and balance was immediate, and it cut through the same roots like butter. Now I get why people say you pay for quality with tools, but I still hate dropping that much on something simple. Has anyone else had a cheap tool fail at the worst possible moment?

Does the expensive one feel that much better though?

Oh man, @quinn582, you really gotta try it if you get the chance! I was on the fence forever until a friend let me borrow theirs, and yeah, it's a total game changer. The feel is just way more solid and premium, like everything clicks into place better. It's one of those things where you don't notice the difference until you go back to a cheaper one and it suddenly feels flimsy and weird. I ended up saving up for months and honestly wish I'd just done it sooner. Totally worth the hype in my book!
