My kid said something about his friend's dad that made me rethink my whole job situation
My son told me his friend's dad 'works from his car' and is home by 3:30 every day. The dad is a service tech for an HVAC company. I'm a project manager at a firm downtown, and I'm gone from 7 AM to 7 PM most days. I never really thought about a trade job. The money seems solid, the hours are set, and you're not stuck in an office. But I've been at my current job for 8 years, and the benefits are good. Has anyone made a switch like this in their 40s? How did you figure out the pay cut, if there was one?

I switched to plumbing at 45 and the better hours were totally worth the initial pay cut!

Better hours don't pay the bills though...
