Just ran the math on my injector cleaning schedule
I found out from a Cummins white paper that doing injector cleaning every 15,000 miles instead of 30,000 actually cuts fuel costs by 12% over 100k miles, and now I feel like I've been throwing money away, anyone else run those numbers and change their routine?

Have you seen any real world fuel economy gains doing it that often... I read a thread on another forum where a guy tested it on a dyno and only saw about a 2% difference but maybe that was a different engine. Just wondering if the 12% number holds up on older trucks or if it's more for newer ones with tighter tolerances.

@aaronf40 you bring up a good point about the older trucks. I've got a 2012 6.7 and I was skeptical at first too. I started doing cleanings every 15k about 30k miles ago and my fuel economy went from 14.5 to about 16.2 on the highway. That's not a wild 12% jump but it's still something real. The dyno tests are probably more accurate but real world driving has a lot of variables like load and driving style. For me the extra cost of the cleaning is worth it just knowing the injectors are staying in better shape long term.
