Overheard a contractor at the hardware store say he uses a 1/4 inch spacer for every single drawer slide install.

I tried it on my kitchen cabinet project and it saved me from having to redo three drawers that were binding up.

Hang on, let me write down this magic number before I forget it. My usual method is just eyeballing it and then swearing a lot when the drawer sticks. This guy just handed out free wisdom between the paint and the plumbing aisle. Guess I owe my next three smooth-gliding drawers to a random contractor's loud conversation.

Overheard a guy at the lumber yard telling his buddy to always add a dime's thickness to plywood cuts for breathing room. Changed my whole cabinet game. My old projects used to fit like a tight fist, now everything slides easy. What's the best free tip you've ever picked up in a store?
