Tried to build a floating shelf with wood glue versus pocket screws

Honestly, I used wood glue and brackets for the first one and it fell off the wall after a week. Ngl, the second one with a Kreg pocket hole jig is still solid after six months. Anyone have a better fix for drywall anchors?
