Showerthought: When did getting a dredge permit become a month-long puzzle?

I used to file a simple form and be digging in days. Now it's a stack of paperwork that needs three different approvals. Who has time for all these environmental impact studies on every small job? We're not building a dam, just clearing a channel. The backlog is getting ridiculous, and the waterway suffers for it.

Yeah, I hit that same wall with my last project. Hiring a local permit expediter cut the wait down to two weeks somehow.

But isn't hiring an expediter just throwing money at a problem? Tbh, @emmasmith, I've seen cases where it backfires and costs more in the long run. Honestly, doing it yourself might take longer, but you learn the system so it's better next time. Sometimes those expediters don't even speed things up that much from what I've heard. Ngl, I'd rather save the cash and deal with the wait.
