Tried a new taping knife after my old one bent, and the difference is night and day

For years I just used the basic 6-inch flexible knife from the big box store, you know the one. Last week on a big ceiling job in the new apartments over on Elm, the corner of mine bent on a seam and I had to finish with a backup. Grabbed a Marshalltown 6-inch stiff blade from the supply house the next morning, and wow. The extra weight and that rigid spine let me lay down a perfect bed of mud with way less pressure. No more flexing over screws, and cleaning it is a breeze. It just feels solid in your hand. I got through the rest of that ceiling in half the time, no joke. Has anyone else made a switch like that and been shocked at how much easier it made things?

Yeah, that "perfect bed of mud" feeling is real. I switched to a stiff blade for skim coating and it just glides without digging in. Total game changer for control.

My buddy's cheap knife snapped. Upgraded, now he's a convert.
