Talked to an old timer yesterday and now I feel like I've been doing this wrong
Ran into this retired guy at the supply house, been in the trade since the 70s. He saw me grabbing a bunch of Wagos and laughed, said he still twists and tapes everything because he's seen too many Wagos fail on high amp circuits. Told me about a job he did in 1985 that's still running perfect with wire nuts. Made me think about all those new construction homes I've been wiring up with push connectors. Has anyone else had a Wago actually give out on them or is this just boomer talk?

Man that stuff gets in your head doesnt it. Its like the old timers have this way of planting a seed of doubt that just grows. Ive noticed the same pattern everywhere not just in trades but like with tools and even cooking gear. The old way feels more solid because it survived before everything got cheap and mass produced. But then again those push connectors have been tested to hell and back so its probably fine. I guess the real question is how much do you trust the cheap version of something versus the thing you know worked for forty years.

That's a tough one man. It really sticks with you when someone so experienced plants that little seed of doubt. I totally get why it'd make you second guess everything.
