Vent: Saw a new build in Denver with all the outlets installed upside down

I was finishing a walkthrough on a house in the Highlands last Thursday, and every single 15 amp outlet had the ground pin up. The foreman said it was a 'new safety standard' from the builder to stop things from falling across the prongs. I've been in the trade for 12 years and that just seems like a fix for a problem that doesn't exist, plus it looks weird. Has anyone else run into this and actually think it's a good idea?

Have you considered that a loose faceplate could let something metal slide down and short the prongs? That foreman's safety point is actually valid, even if it looks odd at first.

Honestly that whole metal object slide thing feels like a made up worry. How often does a bare paperclip just fall perfectly onto both prongs under a loose plate? Tbh it seems like a solution for a problem that basically never happens in real life.
