I think we're overthinking door locks on hydraulic elevators

Been working on elevators for about 12 years now, mostly in older buildings around Philly. Every time I see a thread about door lock monitoring on hydros, people start talking about replacing the whole assembly or rewiring the safety circuit. But in my experience, 8 times out of 10 it's just a dirty contact or a worn roller that's a sixteenth of an inch off. I had a job last month where a guy spent 4 hours chasing a intermittent fault, swapped the lock, the magnet, even the controller board. I walked in, cleaned the contact surface with a dollar bill, snugged the roller bracket a quarter turn, and it's been solid for 6 weeks. Am I the only one who thinks we jump to parts swapping too fast on these things?

Heard a guy say 90% of lock issues are just dirt or vibration.

Add a little rust to that and you've got a whole lot of stuck locks, @the_stella.
