Warning: The $200 laser level that seemed like a lifesaver almost got me fired
I bought this fancy laser level for lining up door sills in a new high rise downtown, thinking it would save me a ton of time. The thing worked great for the first two floors, then the battery died mid-job and the auto-shutoff left a mark a quarter inch off. My foreman came by, saw the mistake, and I had to redo three doors by hand. Anyone else have a tool that promised the world but just made more work?

Man, that auto-shutoff feature sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Did you check if there was any kind of low battery warning before it just died on you? I've had tools do that, where they give you like two beeps and then quit, which is useless if you're focused on the work. It seems like a tool that expensive should have a better system, maybe a blinking light or something you can actually notice.
