Appreciation post: I thought my neighbor was being cheap using old paint, but his 5-year-old deck still looks perfect.

I was convinced you needed to buy new, expensive deck stain every other year until I saw his results, which made me question if I was just falling for marketing. Has anyone else had a product or habit they judged that actually worked out better?

Nah, that old paint is gonna fail hard soon. New stuff has UV blockers and mildewcide his can't have. He just got lucky with the weather.
