My phone screen cracked and I had a weird choice about what to do next

So my phone screen totally shattered last Tuesday when I dropped it on the sidewalk outside my apartment. It was still working, but the glass was a mess. I looked up the repair cost and it was like $250, which is a lot for me right now. The ethical part hit me when I saw a sketchy ad online offering a 'like new' screen for $60, but the guy basically hinted it was from stolen phones. I was really tempted because money is tight, but I kept thinking about how buying that might just encourage more theft. I ended up going to the official store and paying the full price, even though it hurt my wallet. It felt like the right thing, but man, it was a hard call in the moment. Has anyone else been in a spot where doing the honest thing cost way more?

Ever had to choose between a cheap fix and a clean conscience? My laptop charger died last month and a coworker offered me one he "found" at the library for twenty bucks. I knew it wasn't really his to sell. I just bought a new one myself even though it cost three times as much. Felt bad for my bank account but way better about myself. Sometimes the price tag on doing the right thing is just real.

Honestly, that sounds like a lot of mental work for a phone screen. @wren_ellis12, a found charger is one thing, but a whole stolen parts ring seems like a stretch. You probably just paid extra to avoid a sketchy meetup, which is fair.
