PSA: I read that a huge amount of donated clothes just gets dumped overseas

Found a report from the Environmental Protection Agency that said over 2 million tons of textile waste get exported each year, and a lot of it ends up in landfills in places like Ghana. Makes me second-guess just clearing out my closet to feel good. What's the better way to actually get rid of old clothes responsibly?

Guess my old band shirts are gonna haunt a landfill in Ghana now, lol.

Used to just toss stuff without a second thought. Saw a documentary on those textile dumps and it really got to me. Now I try to mend things or find a textile drop-off, even if it's a pain. The scale of that waste is just hard to ignore once you see it.
