Unpopular opinion: I spent $80 on a fancy fabric marker set and it completely ruined my muslin mock-up.
The ink bled through three layers of my test fabric and stained my work table, so now I have to re-cut the whole piece before I can even start on the real silk.

That sounds like the sewing version of a plumbing job where the new sealant eats through the old pipes. Been there with products that promise the world and deliver a mess. At least your table has a new, unique finish now.

My buddy tried that miracle rust converter on his truck's frame. Said it would turn rust black and stop it. Stuff foamed up like pink insulation, then flaked off in sheets a week later. Left the metal looking worse, all pitted and rough. He ended up cutting out the whole section and welding in new steel.
