My kimchi bubbled over at 3 AM and I finally get the airlock hype
Woke up to a sticky mess on the kitchen floor because my usual jar setup failed. Has anyone else switched to airlocks after a similar midnight cleanup?

Man I had a ginger bug go absolutely nuclear on me once, it blew the lid off a mason jar and sprayed sticky liquid all over my cabinets. I switched to a wide mouth jar with a cheap silicone airlock from amazon and it fixed everything. Now I'm doing a batch of habanero honey and a simple red cabbage kraut, the airlock lets me just forget about it for a week without worrying. It really is one of those little things that makes the hobby way less stressful, at least for me.
