Vent: I thought coworking spaces were a scam but I tried one last month

I was so skeptical of paying $200 a month just to sit at someone else's desk. But after 3 coffeeshop zoom calls where baristas kept asking if I wanted another latte, I finally caved. The quiet room at The Work Lodge in Austin actually has soundproof walls and I finished a project in 4 hours that would have taken me two days at home. Has anyone else found a workspace that actually made them more productive or was it just me?

oh man, the quiet room is a game changer isn't it... i had the same exact issue with coffee shops, those baristas just hovering and i couldn't focus. the trick i found is to check if they have a members only lounge area too, not just the open desks. my place in Dallas has a phone booth setup where i can take calls without anyone hearing me complain about my boss, it's worth every penny for that alone. you might also see if they offer a day pass first before committing to a full month, just to test the vibe.

Oh wait the phone booth thing, is it one of those soundproof pods or just a regular glass room? I tried a place in Austin that had those whisper rooms but the seal was broken so you could still hear everything from the hallway. Have you actually tested how soundproof yours is by having someone stand outside and talk while you're on a call? I'm thinking about upgrading my membership but I need to be able to bitch about my project manager without the whole floor hearing.
