Cheap Harbor Freight pulley setup saved my back for $12

I finally hung my 60 lb bench grinder from the ceiling using one of those $12 pulleys from Harbor Freight. Took me like 20 mins to rig it with some scrap rope I had in a bucket. The pulley actually holds steady even when I bang the grinder around. Anyone else use a cheap pulley for heavy tools or am I gonna come home to a hole in my floor someday?

Hold on a second, I gotta point something out nobody mentioned yet. That rope you used is probably gonna stretch over time from the weight, which means your grinder could start slowly lowering and swinging around. I had a buddy who did this with a cheap rope and after a few months the thing was almost touching the ground, then the knot slipped one day. Maybe swap that scrap rope out for some actual climbing accessory cord or even a ratchet strap if you can. The pulley itself is fine for the load, but the rope is the real weak link here. Just something to think about before you walk in and find it dangling at eye level.

Ha! @wright.michael you're right, I've got a grinder hanging in my garage that's slowly becoming a ceiling fan.
