I used to dream about time travel, @noahpark, but now I'm happy right here!

Reminds me of my uncle pointing at a crack in his driveway last summer. He just said "that's been there longer than you've been alive" in this totally flat voice, like he was reading a weather report. It wasn't funny or sad, just a fact, but now I always notice that crack when I visit.

Yeah sometimes you just hit a wall with DIY. I've learned the hard way that pushing past it can make things way worse. Better to cut your losses and get help.
