Had to choose between a 0 degree and a 20 degree sleeping bag for a trip to the White Mountains.

I was going backpacking in New Hampshire in October and couldn't decide if I needed the extra warmth. I went with the 20 degree Kelty Cosmic bag to save weight and space, and just wore my base layers. It got down to about 28 degrees one night and I was fine, maybe a little cool but not bad. Anyone else have a good rule of thumb for picking a bag rating for shoulder season trips?

That time our internal newsletter got a 92% open rate

We launched a new format focused on employee wins and project highlights, skipping the usual policy updates. After the first send, our analytics dashboard showed a 92% open rate, which was a huge jump from our usual 45%. I think it worked because we made it feel less like a corporate memo and more like a team update. Do you think focusing on people over process is the key to cutting through the internal noise?

My uncle told me to start with Python back in 2018 and I almost didn't listen

Honestly, I was set on learning C++ first because I heard it was what real programmers used. My uncle, who's been a software dev for like 20 years, sat me down and said, 'Just try Python for three months. If you hate it, switch.' He argued the simpler syntax would let me focus on learning how to think like a coder instead of fighting with semicolons and memory. Ngl, I was stubborn, but I gave it a shot. I used a free online course and built a dumb little number guessing game in a weekend, something that would have taken me weeks to figure out in C++. That early win kept me going. Now, five years later, I work with Java mostly, but starting with Python was the best advice I ever got. Anyone else get pushed toward a specific first language that totally shaped their start?

PSA: My neighbor's air fryer caught fire while cooking frozen fries.

I saw the smoke from my window and heard the fire alarm, and the fire department said it was likely from built-up grease in the basket. I always just gave mine a quick rinse, but now I'm taking the whole basket apart to scrub it. How often do you all do a deep clean on your fryer?
