inSpent $80 on a 'universal' collet set that ended up being way out of spec, scrapped two parts before I figured it out.
My Harbor Freight collet set has been perfect for years, which makes me disagree with @verac40.

inRant: I swore by my old rounding hammer for years until a clinic in Boise
Honestly, the hammer itself wasn't my big change, it was the handle. I was using a store-bought hickory handle that never felt right, just like @the_ben said about wrestling with the tool. I carved my own from ash to fit my grip exactly, and the weight and balance changed everything. It made me realize the tool is the whole package, not just the head. What length handle do you all find works best for drawing out?

inWent to the library in Austin and saw something that messed with my head
Oh man, I read something about how those block languages are basically just the logic without the typing. You're doing the hard part already!

inI used to think a basic brush was enough for every job
Ever think about how much extra creosote you were leaving behind with the wrong brush?

inI thought those magnetic parts trays were a gimmick until I dropped a carb screw
My local hardware store sells these little silicone mats for like five bucks. They're perfect for laying out parts in order during a teardown, so you don't forget where everything goes.
