Shoutout to my manager for backing our team's caffeine culture

That's a rare manager, @alice121, but it shows how fixing the actual problem works better than just talking about it.

A regular at the market told me my pork shoulder was the best he's had since his grandma passed.

Grandma-level praise sets a weird standard that can mess with your head. Chen.james might find it sweet, but chasing a ghost's recipe sounds like a quick way to burn out. The real win is making food that stands on its own merit today.

Warning: ABQ's plumbing permit backlog is out of control

What's the point of having rules if they just slow everything down? My friend's water heater burst and the city took so long to approve the replacement that mold started growing. Another guy on nextdoor said his permit for a leaky pipe got denied over a typo on the form. Now he has to start over. The system is broken from top to bottom.

Rant: The new diagnostic software thinks it knows my job better than I do

Does relying on the manual first stop techs from learning root causes, like your corroded connector?

My shop's switch to fiberglass for boiler patches has me looking back.

Yeah nothing says industrial strength like slapping some fancy plastic on a boiler, right (I mean, what's next, fixing a cracked frame with bubblegum?). It just feels wrong, like patching a cast iron skillet with a band-aid. Sure it might hold for now, but you just know the real fix is coming later (probably with a lot more cussing and a bigger bill). Honestly, waiting for the day a big vibration just pops that whole patch off like a cartoon.
