Noticed my whole street is obsessed with a different show each week

Last weekend, I was walking my dog and overheard three different talks about three different shows. It hit me that we're all in our own little binge bubbles now. Back in the day, it felt like everyone was watching the same thing on cable. Now with all these streaming picks, it's hard to find stuff to chat about. What are you all binging lately?

Bangkok café work session hijacked by a surprise lion dance

I was on a video call with clients from a café in Bangkok when a loud lion dance parade entered the street. My microphone caught all the drumming and cheering, and the clients asked if I was at a festival. I had to quickly mute and explain the cultural event, which broke my focus. Now I ask about local holidays before setting up in a public space for work.

Visiting a medieval castle changed how I think about laying stone tile

Yeah the "no laser levels" thing is wild. I saw a documentary where they used giant water-filled trenches as a level reference for foundation stones. The big trick was just taking your TIME, checking and re-checking with plumb lines. They built stuff to last EXTREMELY well.

Why does every DIY fail end with my dad giving me that 'I told you so' sigh?

That sigh is its own art form. Tried to build a desk from scratch last year. One leg was always shorter, so it had this sad wobble. The drawer would only open if you lifted it at a weird angle while kicking the side. He just stood in the doorway, shook his head, and exhaled for like a solid ten seconds. Felt more judged by that air leaving his lungs than by any actual words.
