That $400 foam insulation kit I sprayed in my attic last summer?

I went back and forth on spending the money vs just leaving the old fiberglass batts alone. One side of my attic got the foam treatment, cost me around $400 in material and a whole Saturday. The other side still has the old stuff. My electric bill dropped like 30 bucks a month on the foam side during July and August. What do you all think, is the upfront cash worth going all in or is it just paying for a quiet house?

Wait wait wait, you're telling me you only did HALF your attic with the foam? Like you literally have a control group in your own house? That's the kind of science I can get behind but also the kind of madness that would drive me nuts. I can't imagine knowing one side of my house is sweating out money while the other is nice and sealed up. But hey, $30 a month savings means that foam pays for itself in about 13 months, so if you plan on staying put for more than a year it's a no brainer. Plus the quiet factor is real, my buddy did his whole place and said he can't even hear the garbage trucks anymore.

Hold up, he did half the attic with foam and half without? That is some next level commitment to data collection but also total chaos. I would lose my mind walking up there knowing one side is all cozy and the other is just letting the weather in like an open window. But dang, $30 a month adds up, I guess that's like a couple of fast food runs you're not burning on heating and cooling. The noise thing is wild too, I never even thought about that. If I couldn't hear the garbage trucks shaking my house at 6 AM I might actually consider it just for that alone. Still though, the half and half thing is pure madness, props to him for sticking with it.
