The week my water heater died taught me a lesson about home warranties
Last month my water heater gave out on a Tuesday. I had a home warranty I'd been paying $50 a month for 3 years. When I called them they said it'd be 5 business days just for someone to look at it. I ended up calling a local plumber who came same day and fixed it for $600. That week made me realize I was throwing money away on that warranty policy. Has anyone else had better luck with those things or am I not the only one who got burned?

Did your warranty company also try to make you wait a week like mine did?

Honestly I gotta disagree here. I've had a home warranty for like 8 years now and it's paid for itself twice over. My AC compressor went out last summer and that would have been like $3,500 without it. The key is reading the fine print and knowing what's covered. My warranty company has a list of approved local plumbers and they came out within 48 hours both times I needed them. You probably just got a bad warranty company, not a bad system overall.
